Students residing in and around the Polokwane, Limpopo, originating from an impoverished historical past, are urgently encouraged to get in touch with their local municipality for information and apply for bursaries available in the region. Application close in three weeks on the 31 January.
Spokesperson at the Polokwane municipality, Noko Lebea, explained that these bursaries will offer successful applicants the chance to study for a diploma or degree at a recognised university, technikon or technical college.
There are several terms and conditions associated with these bursaries. Preference will be provided to applicants who have a desire to continue their education in the following areas of study: financial management, water and sanitation, electrical engineering and civil engineering, or any field of study that is recognized as vital or scarce skills within commerce, business and government sectors around Polokwane region.
All applicants must furnish the following information to be eligible for the bursaries:
The proof of income needs to include a certified copy of a payslip and/or a sworn statement/affidavit stating the occupation of the parent/guardian. The proof of residence should include a recent rates/services account and a confirmation letter from a ward councilor.
Interested parties can obtain bursary application forms from the municipal offices on the 9th floor of the Civic Centre in Polokwane.
The closing date is January 31.
